Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between extracting and splitting?
Extracting produces one new PDF containing the pages you picked. Splitting cuts a document into several separate files. If you want a single file with just a few pages, extracting is what you want.
Can I extract pages that are not next to each other?
Yes. Select any combination — pages 1, 5 and 22 if you like. They are written into the new file in their original document order.
Does extracting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied rather than re-rendered or re-compressed, so text remains searchable and selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Does this change my original PDF?
No. You download a new file; the document on your disk is never modified. Nothing is written back to it.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Previewing and extracting both happen in your browser. The file is never transmitted, so there is no copy of it anywhere except your own device.
How large a PDF can I work with?
Up to 50 MB. Documents up to 300 pages show full thumbnails; longer ones still work but display numbered placeholders rather than pictures, to protect your browser's memory.
Can I remove the selected pages instead of keeping them?
Yes — one click inverts the operation, or use the dedicated delete pages tool if removing is what you actually came to do.
Can I extract from a password-protected PDF?
Files with permission restrictions but no open password usually work. A PDF that demands a password before opening cannot be previewed or extracted from — remove the password in your PDF reader first.
