About FileMint

Small, fast tools for everyday document and image jobs.

FileMint is a collection of single-purpose tools for the small, annoying tasks that come up around documents — combining PDFs, rotating pages, converting images. Each tool does one thing, works immediately, and asks nothing of you.

How it works

Every tool here runs in your browser. When you add a file, it is read into your browser's memory and processed by your own device, using modern browser APIs that can handle document work locally. The result is handed back to you as a download.

This has three consequences we think are worth the engineering effort. Your files are never transmitted, so there is nothing to store or leak. There is no queue and no upload wait, so it is usually faster. And it costs us almost nothing to run, so it can stay free without a signup wall.

The trade-off

Working in the browser has a real limit: your device's memory. Very large files, or a great many at once, can exhaust a browser tab — particularly on phones. Each tool states its limits, and we would rather tell you honestly than fail halfway through.

Some jobs genuinely cannot be done in a browser — optical character recognition, converting Office documents, video. Those will arrive later and will need servers, which means they will work differently from the tools on the site today.

No accounts

There is nothing to sign up for. We do not have user accounts, we do not ask for your email to use a tool, and we have no way to associate a file with a person even if we wanted to.
